Souls Series and Bloodborne

What's up with that?
O ye of little faith...

It's like that at the start but the end result is similar to a high-level INT build as both the most demanding sorceries and miracles fall in the same window. I personally have a 50 INT/50 FTH build, which coupled with spices, I get to play around with everything.
If I haven't already done so in DS1, I'd totally rock a Paladin build (STR/FTH) again. Those are some of the funnest.

Once I beat Nashandra with Faraam I might go through the Company of Champions to get that awesome ring. Nothing cooler than going at your enemies completely bare-handed. Well actually setting yourself on fire is cooler.

I would honestly just use dual caestus. They only have a little less AR than fists with the ring at 50/50 STR/DEX, but you can buff them. You can also power stance, I'm not sure if you're allowed to do that with just fists. And then you can set yourself on fire with immolation.

The Vanquisher's Seal allows you to power stance your fists and I read that in most cases they beat Dual Caestus. The only advantage that the Caestus have is that they can be buffed, plus I just want the ring for shits and giggles.

I also don't want to go up to 50/50 STR/DEX, that would bring my Soul Level too high.

Pugilism while on fire? Why capcom never gave a special like that to dudley?

You can use a soul vessel to respec. That's what I do whenever I want to try a new build.

But there's only a few of those in the game and I...
If you're trying to convince me not to go through the trouble of earning the Vanquisher's Seal it's not going to work, once I beat the game with this new character I am going to get to rank 3 in the Company of Champions.
There is no stopping that.

GO HARD OR GO HOME.

I'm not saying you should stop. You are certainly no casul. And you can farm soul vessels from the Giant Lord bonfire by using an ascetic and grabbing a number of goodies: 2 ascetics, soul vessel, 2 twinkling titanite, the Grand Lance, and whatever else is on the way. The only catch is that you have to kill the Giant Lord every time, but he's a pushover.:PUN:

No man I'm a huge casual, I only learned about the Dagger's high counter value the other day. I'm carrying one around with me all the time now. Thanks for the farming tips, I'll definitely put them to use.

Having high dex with +10 bandits dagger maybe? or another high damage dagger, and using a buff like sunlight blade with a fully upgraded dragon chime and high faith, you can literally backstab for almost 3000 damage. I was hosting a fight club and one of my fighters was using that and would one shot everyone. Until a guy with gowers ring came in and ended the streak. Crazy build
Edit: What system do you play on?

I'm doing a second play through right now which is a pure strength build so I'm not planning on doing any crazy Faith based shenanigans with a dagger, at least not yet. I'm just keeping it with me when the chance that I'm behind an enemy arises. I'm keeping it nice and simple for now.

Also I play on the PS3.

That's pretty cool, I have a faith/strength right now. Drakekeeper weapons with sunlight blade is crushing to most bosses. I play on xbox unfortunately, so we can't summon. Sad face.

I want a godzilla mod for dark souls...sorry that's all I'm thinking about today/forever

Someone get on that. Replace Old Iron King with Godzilla, and make his fire attacks more Atomic-ish.
That or have walk around Heide's Tower of Flame in the water and fire his atomic breathe every now and then. That leaked footage was insane...hnnnnnnnnnggh...

....Seriosly?...

That sounds awesome!!!!!
Unfortunately you can't modify the main files of the game, change game mechanics or do adjustmnts to an enemy without getting banned from the game, textures edition is fine.

Aww, oh well. I mean I guess it'd be okay for people who play offline only like me, on pc anyway...

Oh yeah, forgot about that. I know hacking is a big problem in Souls games, but it's a shame the problems that VAC is causing for people who have done non-malicious modding, and have been banned from the game.

Edit: at least texture mods are fine thankfully. I wonder if DS2 will receive any silly things like this from the modding community

You bet they will..

*beating Vendrick without Giant souls*
It's actually fairly doable but you only have one shot at it. Defeat Velstadt at first attempt and then immediately aggro Vendrick to start the fight and his defense will be at x1.

GO HARD OR GO HOME.
We'll talk once you earn the "clear the game without dying" and "clear the game without using bonfires" rings...U FKN CASUL.
(What kinda psycho does that, anyway? The no bonfire run is fairly doable but no deaths?!)

*Slam Dunks in Anor Londo*
And another reminder that DS1 has much cooler weapon move sets in general. :/

Anywho, I'm taking kind of a break but I made a short trip to Drangleic just to tie up some loose ends - farming, going from Aldia to the Ancient Dragon and beating the Throne Bros - and happened to be summoned for Bellbro duty (which has been pretty rare. I thought SL150 would see a lot more action) where some guy charged me two-handing a flaming sword only to get unceremoniously killed with two GRS shots. Not even a minute passed and I get a "fy" message. Now I'm confused...was that hatemail or the guy was trying to tell me something but accidentally hit send while typing "fyi"?
I wanted to reply "Dark magic is fair and balanced." but I sensed those glutes were already aching as it is. And besides, I'm just playing for that rank 2 reward. 18 more to go! :/

Now for a couple of visual musings...
1. Every scrub ass build in the game.

2. Is there anything more accurate? My hexer GRS's these little shits but my melee build? FUGGEDABOUTIT!

EDIT: forgot mentioning.
Lightning Bow of Want is really good for builds with moderate DEX (20) and high FTH (30+).
Gonna enjoy grilling everything in Amana. Yeah, stand in the water, bitches!

Do lightning attacks transmit through water? I've never used them before so I wouldn't know.

Lightning based attacks add a bit of damage if the enemy is on water, yes. It's not much but it can sometimes make a difference between one-shotting a enemy or it having like 10% HP and kill you. It will be important in NG+ onward Amana where the "aggro rules" are different - attacking a Archdrake Cleric will aggro all of them (which doesn't happen in NG). Being able to one-shot them is valuable when there's 3 or more on your case.
Also, LTN does good damage to most armored enemies which coupled with poison means you can do the deed with just 4 arrows.

Anyway, the Bow of Want is both physical and lightning based. It has a special attack (more style than substance) where it shoots a Sunlight Spear-esque arrow at the cost of durability.
In DS2, FTH was changed into a stat that mostly increases LTN damage. Back in DS1, there was Divine and Occult elements and FTH increased Divine and there was also Chaos that increased with Humanity, along with assorted types of titanite....
DS2 really simplified things.

Very random note, googled "Lindeldt" to confirm how it's written and found a DA page with pretty fun DS fan arts. A couple of pieces just underline how I wish some characters had more development. Looking at you, Licia.
(And now that I look at it, I posted a piece by this artist in the Funnies topic.)

Is the Bow of Want's special attack good at something that I'm unaware of? I have that thing nearly fully upgraded, and the special move does less damage than if I just used an Iron Arrow.

edit: Ah, just noticed the "More style than substance" in parenthesis

Well that explains a lot.

Question, I noticed some DSII videos where the invader of a world doesn't kill the host and instead fights some other invaders while the host watches. One thing that's common is that the host is laying down Prism Stones.
Can someone explain what's going on?

Those are fight clubs, the host summons invaders who put down red soap stones. Then the invaders fight each other for amusement of the host. The prism stones are just a signal to the players that this is a fight club and to not kill the host. If the host is really cool, they'll give items or something to people who win so many matches in a row. I host them now and again, it's fun and a way to show off your skill to other players.

Lore AND a remix of my favorite Demon's Souls track? Christmas has come earlier!
Alas, I feel remarkably silly for:
a) ever doubting the Ancient Dragon's a phony
b) thinking the Watcher and Defender were Nashandra's allies
c) why Amana (because the milfs are basically Nashandra tranquilizers, that's why. still don't get why the place is crawling with Lindelt's cleric soldiers though)
d) not really figuring Vendrick's last plan to foil Nashandra's ambitions (as I don't see the connection between the Throne of Want and the Giants' Kinship)

Anyway, I never fought Throne Bros and Nashandra in a row so the cutscene footage surprised me. Gotta try that one'a these days.
Side note, something that crossed my mind about that cutscene: it's Nashandra who crosses the fog gate, making you (the player), the game's final boss from her perspective.
They should have reversed the HUD with the HP bar below being "The Throne's Heir" and Nashandra's on the upper left.:PUN:

EDIT: spoilered by popular demand.

That's SUCH a cool perspective! I never thought of it that way!

So... if Nashandra kicks my ass can I absorb the throne bros and become a giant, three-headed lightning powered knight of death?

Balder, spoiler your last post please.

I have a Zweihander +10 and I have 30 STR, 15 DEX, 10 INT, and 15 FAITH. Should I imbue this sword and if so what should I imbue it with?

The closest I've seen to such a thing is the true final boss of Asura's Wrath when during the final segment of the battle, QTE inputs appear for him (the boss).

Done.
In my defense, we already openly discussed several of the story's themes and events here in the topic.

I have a Zweihander +10 and I have 30 STR, 15 DEX, 10 INT, and 15 FAITH. Should I imbue this sword and if so what should I imbue it with?
Depends. Which stats will you increase?
I've been told that pure/mostly STR builds are usually better off without infusions. (in b4 Mundane Santier's Spear)
Magic infusion makes the weapon scale with INT.
Enchanted infusion "transfers" your INT into physical damage.
Lightning infusion makes the weapon scale with FTH.

As with most RPGs, the melee classes are treated like the ginger stepchild.

EDIT: to add a extra thought to this, the elemental infusions usually serve to either explore a enemy's elemental weakness or, in case of PvP, maximize chip damage depending on their shield. Like, a Fire infusion wouldn't do anything against a Gyrm Greatshield but Lightning might be efficient (IIRC Gyrm GS has 30 LTN DF). But again, your stats would have to be sizeably invested in the dedicated stats in order for it to matter.
Probably better to add stamina, strength and equipment load to turn into a walking tank. :3

If you are going to continue to raise faith, I'd go with Lightning. The Zwei does great damage after infusion anyway though, fully upgraded and you'll be doing a nice 200+ on both damage sides (and that's before scaling), so whatever you go with is gonna hit hard.

Hey guys, can someone link me that Spooky Scary Skeleton funny vid about those skeletons in Majula, pretty much. That was too funny and I can't remember the name of it.

I invaded a guy yesterday in DkS1 Undead Parish at SL 20 with a bunch of hulking armor and big weapons I can't even use because of stat requirements, and he was so terrified of me walking slowly at him that he lost track of his movement and walked off the ledge to his death. I just smiled evilly

wow, I'd feel bad for the poor guy. But I'd be dying

I just had a huge rush of nostalgia while fighting the Guardian Dragon. After I defeated it on my own I was helping other people take it down and in one session I managed to cut off its tail. At that point I was like, "Oh God I miss Monster Hunter so much right now." I feel like Dark Souls and Monster Hunter are kind of similar in a way.
