POKKEN

Skullgirls
I don't think anyone cares, we have Combo Breaker. And if you wanted to donate to something LZ related Indivisible exists.

At least SG isn't nidhogg.
That one makes me sad since unlike a few on that list Nidhigg is at least fun to watch, shame it was never going to go anywhere.

Well, it surely was a nail biter near the end. After trading neck and neck up till the final 5 minutes, Justin Wong and presumably other players/ Tourney organizers dropped bombs into Marvel's favor, totaling up to a 5k difference in donations.

In the end, Pokken lost its spot, but its determination has been noted for the evo staff, earning $66,906 for charity with half the donators than Marvel did. As a result, EVO will be donating 10K for Pokken tourney majors for this year, and Pokken has made is voice heard across the FGC.

Justin Wong earn money with marvel. For him it was an investment (and a serious conflict of interest, IMO). For the others, they could've funded 3 marvel tournaments with that money

What the shit happened there?

I don't quite know the circumstances, but if I had to guess, I'd say that after the winner was announced, a bunch of Marvel donaters refunded their donations, probably with PayPal charge backs or some equivalent (In the picture, it looks like about $4500 dollars dropped from the Marvel donation totals).

I just did a quick search, apparently this is from the Pokken side; Marvel still has all their donations.

Makes sense. If what counts is the money, not the person involved, why would you keep a donation if your game lost?

Ask for a refund and donate for charity without the bitterness of a lost chance at Evo

Hey, this is a great time to point out this is the absolute worst reason to do this kind of donation scheme.

I had totally forgotten about chargebacks.

We (rather, I) don't know how the funds are distributed, and when. Are they distributed to Joey? to the Charities? Immediately? After a period? When? In how many installments?

I assume Generosity ( and therefore IGG ) distributes the money after some time, but I do not know for sure. I am playing devils advocate and assuming it all goes to Joey and then he gets to do what he wants with it.

That being said, Pokken is a cool game

Hey hey hey!
i got confused too but its pokken that got their money refunded not marvel, it looks like it was marvel cuz of the two images but its not

Incorrect, i got confused by the images at first too cuz marvel has two pictures and there is no pokken image, its actually showing pokkens money getting refunded not marvel

Didn't Wii U get shafted on the DLC characters
where's the love there
Techincally we got Braixen, The Mewtwos, and Garchomp before the arcades did, but at the same time, Japan had both the consoles and the arcades to play :/
