well not everyone is gonna assume "maybe my best bet to get out of this pit is to JUMP AT THE WALL REPEATEDLY"
no sane person is gonna assume you can wall jump without indication
Well let's see
Your in the first stage, in a pit, with only two walls and nothing else.
BOY I WONDER IF I SHOULD TRY DOING SOMETHING ELSE BESIDES SITTING THERE TWIDDLING MY THUMBS. MAYBE I SHOULD TRY TOUCHING THE WALLS OR SOMETHING TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS, SINCE I OBVIOUSLY CAN'T FLY?
I mean holy heck, you cling to the walls
automatically when you touch them, you should have at least noticed that by accident if nothing else. And hey, if you
experiment and try jumping while clinging, it works! Seriously it's not rocket science.
This is like the people complaining about no ingame movesets in Skullgirls at launch. I can sympathize with poor telegraphing, but this is just straight up DSPgaming style nonsense.
The only legitimate game design complaint I'd make about the first X is that they don't give you the dash move right away, and they don't tell you it's in Chill Penguin stage either. X2 and all the following ones fixed this though. The dash is pretty much THE defining feature of the X series, it's incredibly fun to use and essential, so not giving it right away was pretty lame.
