RetroStation's Chiptune (And Other Musical Works) Channel

RetroStation

The Eternal Casual on Hiatus
So, yeah, I make stuff. Chiptune-y stuff, to be exact. Figured I'd start sharing my work with you guys :3

Here's some stuff I made last night:
Anyone who's played the original or console port will probably dance in their seats to this... @Mike_Z, maybe? Either way, enjoy!

EDIT: If you find something you like, whether it's posted here or found on my channel, PM me and I'll be glad to send you a copy of the MP3!

I like it! But I miss the glass breaking SFX, heh. They wouldn't fit in this but I miss 'em.

I have the Toad kit from Tweakbench. There's something in there that sounds like glass breaking... Lemme tinker with it later, and I'll get back to you on it.

Wow that's really nice! I love the idea of having an alternate Mega Man styled soundtrack.

Curious on what you'd do with Annie and Anais' themes ;D

I'd need some base material; they don't call me a cover artist for nothin'!

Hell, if you want their themes based off of particular songs, I could try and work something out; no promises, though :P

That sounds wonderful! Also I stalked your youtube and i noticed you covered some mega man songs especially king's fortress/coldman/grenademan can i throw money at you Here's Anais' theme, although im sure Kai has sent you the file already

Any chances of covering the boss theme? ;D

Whatever you want me to work, just send me the source material, and I'll see what I can do.

I checked out some of your tracks and they pretty catchy. Please keep up the good work. I really enjoyed "Ai wo Torimodose!!"!

After a recent email, along with a particular question regarding original composition, I wanted to clarify with everyone that either skims through this thread or my YouTube channel.

I do not create original compositions. I have tried repeatedly, and I have failed. I know next to nothing about music theory regarding the intricacies of melodies, harmonies, and accompaniments. I merely listen to work that inspires me, and either arrange it through a procured MIDI, or I play the song in transcription software, isolate instruments, and write the arrangement in FL Studio. My approach to covers is simply arranging modern work in the chiptune style, while following the constraints of the NES as best as I can. There will be times where I just don't give a shit about constraints and just write the song anyway; Ai Wo Torimodose is my best example of not giving a shit.

I do covers out of enjoyment and also with a small hope that someone will come across these on YouTube and enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it. That all being said, if there's a song you'd like to hear in chiptune format, send me a link of the song, and I'll see what I can make of it.

TL;DR All of my work is credited to their original composers. I'm just a cover artist by hobby.

One throwback, one new piece. All here.

(I've just been going through my project catalog and overhauling whatever really stood out to me and/or releasing stuff I never put on SoundCloud)

It's musical mega-post time! I haven't been on this board in forever (and I'm still on hiatus until Beowulf drops; still need time to find SG fun again). So for newer members (and old fans), here's everything I've uploaded from May until now!

Depression is a wonderful thing; it sometimes pushes you to do shit you normally wouldn't, like actually complete a barely-touched project that's been sitting in your backlog for several months.

Before I started working on this hardcore last night, I only had the first eight measures of the bassline and percussion done, and it sat there for at least three months. So, HAVE A THING
